Geocaching Weekend

This weekend I went out with my girlfriend, as usual, when we have free time, we grab the photo gear and gps and we go out for a ride/walk taking photos and geocaching.
This is just a short post to share some photos from this weekend at Praia da Barra (some geolocated at panoramio).

Well, wonder no more, Peter Stults and his photoshop skills took modern films, recast them and created retro B-movie posters in their likeness.

Foodscapes by Carl Warner

Carl Warner is a London based photographer who makes landscapes out of food.

“The ‘Foodscapes’ are created in Carl’s London studio where they are built on top of a large purpose built triangular table top. The scenes are photographed in layers from foreground to background and sky as the process is very time consuming and so the food quickly wilts under the lights. Each element is then put together in post production to achieve the final image.
Once the drawing is agreed upon, Carl then works out what each part of the scene will be made from, and working with his food stylist they together determine the best ingredients to work with in order to achieve his aims.
Having worked for many years as a photographer bringing ideas to life for advertising agencies Carl became very experienced in lighting, and especially the recreation of natural looking light using a combination of tungsten and flash lighting equipment.

Fotopedia

Back in February 2011 I came across with Fotopedia.
Fotopedia is a project born in 2009 and It’s something like a Wikipedia-inspired online photo Encyclopedia, were all the photos I’ve seen are simply amazing. Graphically I also think that Fotopedia looks great, very minimalist and modern. It’s one of those websites that i love to visit and browse for a while looking at photographs.
But why speak about it when you can simply try it yourself? Just visit Fotopedia.

Pantone Color of the Year 2012

As usual Pantone announced next year’s color of the year.
For 2012, Pantone has chosen the Pantone 17-1463 Tangerine Tango, a vivacious and appealing reddish Orange that provides the energy boost we need to recharge and move forward.
Orange combine the energy of red and the happiness of yellow. It is associated with joy, sunshine, and the tropics, it represents enthusiasm, fascination, happiness, creativity, determination, attraction, success, encouragement, and stimulation. The “reddish” orange corresponds to desire, sexual passion, pleasure, domination, aggression, and thirst for action. A color that i believe that can be successfully used in graphic, interior, or fashion design.

Quinta do Vale – Kiwi Farm

I recently was asked to develop a logo and to photograph a Kiwi farm.
For the logo, the client only request was a kiwi, so, keeping the kiwi, i went for a more vintage/classic look since its a traditional hand picking farm, but without losing the elegance.
The objective of the photography session was to capture the hand picking process of the kiwis (not staged), and also to show some details of the farm.
Here are a few photos of that session, and also the final logo.

A few weeks ago I received my professional card emitted by the Portuguese Nacional Designer’s Association (Associação Nacional de Designers). This card is a recognition that I’m a licensed design professional.

Vacations

So? How are my readers?
I know I’ve been a little quiet, but I ran away for a week (on vacations with my girlfriend), meanwhile, the vacations are over and I’m back at home.
Between chilling at the swimming pool, visiting places, going to the bar for a drink, and all that tourist stuff, there was also time for geocaching and photography (being most of the photos taken while geocaching).
I’m posting here some of my favorite photos of that week, feel free to peek.
I’ll also post (as soon as I can) these photos at Panoramio so they can be geolocated and added to Google Maps/Earth.

What is humans.txt?
Well, you might know that websites usually have a file called robots.txt that give instructions about the site to web robots (also known as Web Wanderers, Crawlers, or Spiders); this is called The Robots Exclusion Protocol.
For more info about the robots.txt go to The Web Robots Pages.
Well that was just an introduction for the humans.txt. The humans.txt is a file that gives information about the people behind the site.
Some major websites already adopted the humans.txt, check for example google’s humans.txt.
Like its mentioned on the humans.txt official site “The internet is for humans…”, so if there’s a robots.txt, the existence of a humans.txt makes sense! For more info about the humans.txt file and how to make one, peek the humans.txt official site.
